Plenty to Smile About as Cornwall Practice Wins Three Accolades at Dental Awards

CORNWALL’S River Practice Specialist Centre has beaten a record number of entries to win a staggering three accolades at the national 2015 Dental Awards, including Team of the Year.
The specialist dental centre, based at Castle Street in Truro, was the most successful UK practice on the awards night, winning Team of the Year South, Receptionist of the Year and Practice Manager of the Year.

It was also highly commended in the categories of Dental Hygienist of the Year, Dental Nurse of the Year and Orthodontic Therapist of the Year at the glittering black-tie dinner, held at the NECHilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham.
More than 325 entries were received for this year’s Dental Awards, which recognise the outstanding individuals and teams whose commitment and drive continues to raise standards throughout UK dentistry.
The nationally respected River Practice was nominated in an unprecedented six of the 12 categories, with many of its happy patients contributing to the nominations.
Anna Lambert, chair of the judging panel and editor of The Probe, commented: “This year, we received a record number of entries, and River Practice impressed the judges with its expertise and professionalism across every aspect of their work. Clearly, they’re an exceptionally strong team.”
Describing the River Practice team as ‘dedicated, highly-motivated and multi-skilled,’ the judging panel of practitioners and members of leading professional dental associations recognised the team’s work across the board to provide dentistry at its very best.
Head receptionist Jessie Morse was named Dental Receptionist of the Year for her dedication to taking customer care at the Cornwall practice to an exceptional level.
As the first point of contact for patients, the judges heard how Jessie ensures they feel relaxed and well informed before meeting the clinical team, and on a daily basis the practice receives positive comments from patients about how great she is.
Judges felt that Jessie had all the qualities that they would expect of the ideal receptionist and more, being really efficient and always happy and helpful.
From an ‘exceptional’ list of nominations, River Practice’s Lisa Holmes was named Practice Manager of the Year in recognition of her exemplary work to improve patient experience and to motivate her team.
“The standard in this category was exceptionally high,” the judging panel said, ”and Lisa is clearly exceptionally good at her job, loyal and selfless being able to motivate her team to achieve their full potential and delivering outstanding service.”
Highly commended in the categories of Dental Hygienist of the Year, Orthodontic Therapist of the Year and Dental Nurse of the Year were River Practice’s Alison Brown, Lesley Oldfield and Helen Mackenzie.
Now in their 17th year, the Purple Media Solutions Dental Awards are the industry’s most respected awards. For the first time this year, the awards teamed up with The Dentistry Show to host the final.
Jeremy Peak, Lead Orthodontist and Managing Director of the River Practice Specialist Centre, spoke about the awards: “To be nominated in six out of 12 categories and to walk away with three titles on the night was truly an exceptional achievement for us here at River Practice. We are delighted with the results and are thrilled that our team’s hard work and dedication to our patients has been recognised.
“It really is a testament to the way in which we run our practice. We are constantly striving to create a relaxing and friendly environment and our team are the ones that make that possible. The only way to go for River Practice at the moment is up and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings.”
